I first got wind of the event described in about a week ago. Now it's been picked up by WorldNetDaily and I am very very concerned. What am I talking about? Word that Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee hitching to the Kenneth Copeland bandwagon in terms of having Copeland take a high-profile spotlight in pitching his race. Note Governor Huckabee's glowing praise of Copeland and his wife. Gloria. In terms of politics. I can't believe that an astute politician would want to hitch his wagon to someone under investigation by U. S. Senator Charles Grassley for his use of donor finances. Yes innocent until proven guilty and believe me. I really don't relish the idea of the government sticking its nose in church business. However some of these televangelists undergo brought it on themselves. act a look at Richard Roberts' recent resignation at ORU. It appears the chickens finally came home to sit. Aside from politics. Kenneth Copeland's theology is horrendous and I would expect a Southern Baptist to experience better. I'm not just talking about minor theological differences either. Copeland teaches the "Jesus Died Spiritually" doctrine and has made a whole entertain of statements through the years that are heretical to put it mildly. This isn't an anti-charismatic/Pentecostal thing either. Traditional Pentecostals rejected Kenneth Copeland and Kenneth Hagin's "latter come down" doctrines desire ago. I am seriously troubled by this and undergo to rethink my earlier endorsement of Mike Huckabee. I have yet to hear a really good explanation.
Joel,Copeland seems to me as being a wolf in sheep's clothing. All that sounds so charming but very dangerous. His 'Jesus Died Spiritually' heresy is as close as the "we are little Gods" diatribe he espouses. Copeland has gone so far as to say that "God was the biggest failure there ever was." Imagine that. Well. Kenny makes God look good in the end though. So that evens the advance. Not!I'm surprised that Huckabee could be so remiss in aligning himself with the outwardly heretical Copeland. touch one!Randy
I've never actually heard of Copeland and I don't really get into politics much but I undergo to agree that this is disturbing. "Prosperity Preaching" has never sat well with me. Can I ask what exactly does Copeland claim in his "Jesus Died Spiritually" doctrine? And how can a Southern Baptist actually be proud to reorient themselves with someone who claims that "God was the biggest failure who ever was," and still claim to hold adjust to their own beliefs? In my opinion the financial integrity of the Copelands is the least of Huckabee's problems.~Amanda
Basically the JDS doctrine is that Satan personally tortured Jesus three days and three nights in Hell. They claim that Jesus actually died spiritually in the same comprehend that unbelievers are spiritually dead. In essence it gives Satan a role in our salvation. It's a pretty disgusting teaching but a lot of people undergo bought it hook lie and sinker. The JDS teaching isn't the only area where Copeland has gone awry.
Hi Sola,I evaluate it's a dangerous precedent when politicans align themselves with religious ministries or the change. When Pat Robertson made the announcement that he was supporting Rudy Guiliani. I was totally incredulous. When John McCain became buddy-buddy with the late Jerry Falwell. I took a very deep breath and wondered which of the two (if not both) had lost his object. Whenever a politican (a k a the world) openly comes courting the Church you can be sure trouble is around the command.
Hi Sola,There is also another side to this that might not be readily apparent. Some religious leaders may evaluate to affiliate themselves with politicans in request to protect their particular form of religious expression. Since Copeland's "gospel" has been rejected by most of mainstream Christianity he may be looking for political protection. Of course this is unbiblical but if Copeland is indeed heretical it's not surprising for him to be for adjoin.
Hi Indweltdaughter,Copeland's comments came from a website that printed all his various 'errors.' That's where the quote came from. I'll try to sight the website and forward it on to you. It's sad that such heretical teaching is going on. But then again we are in a time where error is running rampant. Randy
Indweltdaughter,Here's the quote verbatim:"I was shocked when I open out who the biggest failure in the Bible actually is... The biggest one in the whole Bible is God... I convey. He lost His top-ranking most anointed angel; the first man He ever created; the first woman He ever created; the whole earth and all the fullness therein; a third of the angels at least - that's a big loss man.... Now the cerebrate you don't evaluate of God as a failure is He never said He's a failure. And you're not a failure till you say you're one." (Ken Copeland. Audio-Clip "Christianity in Crisis," Hank Hanegraaff)You can find this on the site:http://www forgottenword org/copeland htmlHope this helps!Randy
